The short version first, in plain words. The full privacy policy follows below; it is the one that counts.
There is no box for us. We run no server for the app at all.
No account with us, no email address, no password. The subscription runs through your Apple account, and Apple only tells us it is active.
No analytics, no advertising, no code from other companies inside the app.
Pathvault reads only when and where a photo was taken. The photos themselves are never copied, stored or sent.
A place you mark as private never appears in a book, a widget, a search or on your lock screen.
Map tiles, place names, routes and the weather come from Apple, like any map app. The one exception, a Google Maps link you share with the app, is named in the policy.
Save everything as ordinary files from the Mac app at any time. Delete something and it is gone from every device, for good.
Privacy policy · effective 14 September 2026 · Pathvault is made by Cavitor AB
Pathvault records where you have been on your phone, and keeps that history on your own devices. No server of ours ever sees a location. We run no server for the app at all.
Your phone and your Mac stay in step through your own iCloud account. Locations, trips, notes and the texts about them travel end-to-end encrypted in your iCloud private database, with keys only your devices hold. Apple cannot read them and neither can we. Turn iCloud off and everything keeps working on the device you are holding.
The only requests that leave your devices go to Apple, as any map does, with one exception named below:
maps.app.goo.gl, goo.gl/maps, maps.apple/p): one request to the link's own service, Google's for a Google link, reads its target; nothing else is fetched and nothing of yours goes with it;There are no analytics, no advertising identifiers and no third-party code in the app.
With your permission the app reads the location and the moment of pictures in your Photos library, on each device from its own library. The pictures themselves are never stored, copied or sent. A picture you highlight in a note is remembered by its iCloud Photos identifier only.
With your permission the phone notes whether you were walking, cycling or in a car at each fix it records, from the phone's own motion sensors, so a move shows how you travelled. That word stays with the fix on your devices.
You can see what is stored, kind by kind, on every device. You can delete a single sample, a visit, a trip, a note, or everything. A deletion reaches every synced device and is permanent.
Pause tracking with one action, from the phone, the Mac's menu bar, a widget or a shortcut. Paused shows everywhere and stays paused until you resume.
Widgets and the Live Activity show area names and totals, never a precise position, so nothing private sits on a lock screen. Private stays never appear in widgets, recaps, search results or Spotlight.
The subscription runs through your Apple account. We receive from Apple only that a subscription is active; never a name, an address or a card.
Pathvault is not directed at children under 13.
This policy changes only with the app, and the app's own privacy page says the same in fewer words. Questions: privacy@cavitor.se.
